January 16th, 2007

Roll Call

The meeting was called to order by President David Moravecek at
6:15 pm. The meeting began with the Pledge of Allegiance.

Attendance

16 members were present at the meeting.

Treasurer’s Report

Eric Sundstrom (Treasurer) provided the status of Chamber funds
as of January 12th, 2007. The current balance stands at $12,208.86.
Outstanding checks total $2,031.69. A future balance of
$10,177.17 is expected. Projected profits from the 2006 Trim a
Tree event are $1,251.28.

Secretary’s Report

Kevin Frontone (Secretary) announced that meeting minutes are
available on the Chamber’s website:
riversidechamberofcommerce.com. An annual letter was
distributed to all present and former members for renewal of dues
and announcements from our president.

Old Business

President David Moravacek announced that all correspondence
from the Village board via Katie Rush are being sent to members
through email.

Debate and discussion were heard concerning the Village’s
proposal of creating a TIFF district in downtown Riverside.
The official position of the Chamber is to remain neutral on the matter
and allow individual business members to pursue the matter as
see fit.

New Business

The Village has announced that changes will be coming with the
Oktoberfest celebration this October. A joint effort between the
Village and the Chamber is expected. The fine arts show will be
Joining with our traditional Oktoberfest activities to streamline the
event. Louise Wimmer of Higgins Glass has agreed to help direct
this year’s festivities.

The Village has announced the creation of a task force to review
Village finances. Members of the Chamber are encouraged to
participate in this effort. The goal of the task force will be to
ascertain what priorities and changes could be implemented to
improve the vibrancy of the business district and community
services.

Questions were raised about the continuing of financial support
from the Riverside Economic Development Committee (EDC)
Support is expected to continue and a Chamber representative will
be present at future meetings to lobby for this support.

A solicitation of advertising dollars was given to Chamber
members to support the Infant Welfare League. A drive will be
held at the Oakbrook Drake on January 27th.

Mike Hullihan, Director of Public Works, was present at the
meeting as the representative of the Village. The Village has
agreed to have a representative present at all Chamber meetings.
Several questions were directed at Mike regarding Village
positions on the TIFF district, future Chamber event logistics, and
creation of the task force to review Village finances.

Voting

A majority vote was cast to approve renting a tent from Twilight
Rentals (a new Chamber member) for events such as the Steak Fry.

Adjournment

The meeting was concluded at 7:25 pm.

Meetings are held the 3rd Tuesday of each month, your attendance
is encouraged and appreciated.
